1.8 million Blender downloads
Ton created nice statistics showing, that users downloaded 1.8 millions copies of Blender last year. It seems, that everybody use Windows :-/ and Blender is the most popular 3d app in the World (Alias sells only 10 000 copies of Maya per year) ;-).

I think linux total downloads can not include distribution packaging of blender that are not downloaded from the official site.
Plus, for gentoo, per example, sources are used but not linux binary. And the sources are downloaded from gentoo mirrors instead of official site.
Windows download count should be accurate but I seriously doubt for linux one.
